HomeShield Direct was founded with one simple goal: give people peace of mind with comprehensive, reliable appliance protection plans.

Why We Founded HomeShield Direct

As with so many great ideas, HomeShield Direct came about mostly by accident. Two friends were chatting over dinner, and at some point the conversation turned to a hefty bill one had received to repair a washing machine whose warranty had just expired. While it was admittedly not the most fascinating conversation they'd ever had, it led to them asking the question that ended up with the founding of HomeShield Direct later that year: Why aren't there any good options for home appliance protection?

So they began to undertake their own research, and dedicated a year of their lives to learning everything they could about the industry, picking the brains of anyone and everyone they could find, from customers and repairmen to the appliance manufacturers themselves. It soon became clear that people all over Britain were in need of reliable, affordable protection plans and repair services, but couldn't find a company that offered them. And so the paperwork was filed, and in May of 2016 HomeShield Direct Limited was officially founded.

How We Got Here

On our first day in a small office in Brighton, we pinned a simple question to the company corkboard: “How can we help people today?” We’ve grown by asking that question every day, and by treating customers like humans, not lines on a profit/loss sheet. Our best sales tool has always been a happy customer, and we're proud of how many of ours refer friends and family to us for their appliance protection needs.

With that mantra in mind, we’ve grown from three people working out of a single room to a team of over one hundred talented, hardworking professionals spread over two offices overlooking the sea in beautiful Hove, East Sussex. While we come from different backgrounds and industries, we’re all united by a shared love of customer service.

Our Charitable Endeavours

In keeping with our human-first philosophy, we set aside a percentage of our profits for charitable initiatives, making monthly contributions to the Alzheimer’s Society, WaterAid, and Centrepoint, three organisations close to our hearts who do wonderful work in the UK and beyond.

We have also made donations in times of crisis or particular need to The Water Project, charities supporting victims of the recent earthquakes in Indonesia, and the Chestnut Tree House.

To date we have donated over £20,000, in addition to our ongoing monthly contributions, and a fund set aside for donations to worthwhile causes in natural disasters or other emergencies.
